The Great British Sewing Bee 2023: Series 9 coming soon
Have you been watching the Great British Sewing Bee since it started in 2013? I have watched every series and loved it. The show has maintained virtually the same format from the first series. The competition involves 12 amateur sewers taking on various sewing related challenges each week over 10 episodes. The aim is to test 3 areas, their skill, creativity and their ability to create beautiful garments in the made to measure challenge. Each week one person is eliminated and by episode 10 one sewer is crowned Britains best amateur sewer.
The show airs on the BBC and has always been quite popular, but I think during COVID it really provided an escape for everyone increasing the shows popularity even more. More recently they have also started embracing the topic of sustainability and incorporating it into the challenges.
What makes the show even better is the fact they tend to have a book accompany the series and allows home sewists to attempt similar projects to the show.
There are in total 8 series and it is anticipated that The Great British Sewing Bee series 9 will air on Wednesday 24th May 2023 on the BBC. It has been confirmed it will be on BBC One and it will remain on Wednesday night. It does mean we are going to be seeing the wonderful judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young overseeing the home sewers and the lovely Sara Pascoe as the presenter who always brings an element of comedy to the show.
They have released a new book this April to coincide with the latest show, so whilst we wait on the air date, why not learn more about the new book.
